Our Journey – From Redundancy to Roastery

In 2020, when the world was turned upside down by the pandemic, many lives and livelihoods changed overnight. For us, redundancy during COVID-19 became both a challenge and an unexpected opportunity. What could have been an ending became the beginning of something new here in Worthing, West Sussex.

Fueled by a lifelong love for coffee and a passion for sharing it with others, we decided to take a leap and start our own roastery. With little more than determination, a small roaster, and the dream of creating something meaningful for our local community, the 2020 Coffee Company was born.

From those early days of roasting in small batches on the south coast to now serving a growing community of coffee lovers, our mission has always been the same: to source responsibly, roast with care, and deliver coffee that brings comfort and connection—even in uncertain times.

Today, every bag of 2020 Coffee is a reminder that out of challenge comes possibility, and from redundancy came resilience—rooted proudly in Worthing, West Sussex.
